The vision of ACTS Around the World Ministry is for all East Lakers to have a heart for foreign missionaries, churches, and missions. This is accomplished by mobilizing the people of East Lake Community Church to express their faith by giving of themselves in service to others in cross-cultural ministry, and through the development of individuals who will invest themselves in this work as a full-time career.
We believe that the last words Jesus Christ spoke in Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth," (NIV) gives East Lake Community Church its mandate from God to tell others about Jesus Christ. We understand Christ's expectation for us to go outside of our local areas (Jerusalem and Judea) into foreign cultures and countries (Samaria and the ends of the earth) to spread the word of His salvation.
God expects us as a church family to fulfill Acts 1:8 in our own relationships in our neighborhoods, at work, and He also wants us to share this truth around the world to all the people who have never heard of the wonderful gift God has given us.
Therefore, one of our purposes as a church is "...to enable all people to realize their full potential in Jesus Christ" through service to others in cross-cultural ministry.
We at ELCC have identified and support financially men and women whom God has gifted and called to take the message of Jesus to other people groups. Those ministering outside of the USA are listed as AATW (Acts Around the World)--those ministering in South Carolina are listed as ACTS (A Community that Shares).
God continues to challenge us in ways to reach "the ends of the earth." For some of us it will mean changing the way we think and changing the way we spend our time and resources. For some it will mean more time spent in prayer. For others it will include a short-term trip to experience cross-cultural missions first hand. So get involved!
