We believe that the last words Jesus Christ spoke in Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth," (NIV) gives East Lake Community Church its mandate from God to tell others about Jesus Christ. God expects us as a church family to fulfill Acts 1:8 in our own relationships: in our neighborhoods, at work, and around the world, to all the people who have never heard of the wonderful gift God has given us. Therefore, one of the ways we accomplish our vision (to enable all people in Columbia to realize their full potential in Jesus Christ) is through service to others in cross-cultural ministry.
Missions to Belize
East Lake has formed a long-term relationship with YWAM in Belmopan, Belize. We feel by focusing our efforts in one place, we can have an even greater impact for Christ. Our partners at the YWAM base are led by Santi and Liliana Valencia, and East Lake’s own Richard Rice who is there doing long-term mission work. We take 2-3 trips to Belize each year, including one trip each summer for our youth (and their families if interested.) You can follow us by becoming our “fan” on Facebook – search for our East Lake Mission Teams page.
Are you interested in mission trips? We need prayer, financial support, and of course mission team members. If you feel God is leading you to join us in this kind of ministry, please consider going with us. You don't have to be young (our oldest team member was 62), but you do have to be 16 or older. Everyone has something they can contribute and it is amazing to see how God uses all of our gifts in a very special way. Contact Barry@eastlakeonline.com if you are interested.
